New for sorting systems: EAGLE Energy System now available in 48V
The EAGLE Energy System 48V brings intelligent power transmission to sorting systems – for greater uptime, longer service life and easier maintenance.
With the new 48V version of the EAGLE Energy System, we are expanding our intelligent energy transmission system with a solution specifically tailored to the requirements of modern sorting systems. Following the proven success of the 400V version in conveyor installations for the automotive industry, this intelligent technology is now also available for rail-guided systems in intralogistics.
Especially in highly dynamic sorting installations, the energy supply must do more than operate reliably. It must also create transparency regarding the condition of the system. Enter the EAGLE Energy System. It combines stable energy transmission with intelligent condition monitoring, creating the basis for higher availability, improved planning, and more efficient maintenance processes.
More than energy transmission
The EAGLE Energy System turns energy supply into an active part of system optimisation. Operating and wear data are continuously captured, analyzed, and transparently presented. This means that every rail-guided component is not only supplied with power, but also becomes part of an intelligent, data-driven overall system. The current collector becomes intelligent, turning every rail-guided component into an IoT device.
For operators of sorting systems, this creates clear added value in day-to-day operation. Instead of viewing energy transmission purely as necessary infrastructure, it becomes a source of information about the actual condition of the installation. This enables well-founded decisions in service, maintenance, and the optimisation of overall system performance.
Real-time condition monitoring for higher availability
One of the key advantages of the system is the integrated monitoring of relevant operating conditions. The EAGLE Energy System records vibrations, shock loads, temperature increases, and the condition of critical components in real time. It also provides continuous wear measurement and power rail analysis. Even the smallest changes can therefore be detected at an early stage and reported to the customer system, helping to prevent damage to the power rail.
This level of transparency helps minimise unplanned downtime and extend the service life of the entire system. In sorting applications with high cycle rates and narrow maintenance windows in particular, this is a decisive factor. The earlier potential issues are identified, the more precisely operators can intervene and significantly reduce downtime.
Predictive maintenance instead of reactive maintenance
With the EAGLE Energy System, predictive maintenance becomes a practical reality. The system provides early warnings of faults, wear, and potential system failures. As a result, the focus shifts from reactive service interventions to planned maintenance measures that can be integrated more effectively into operational processes.
This is complemented by centralised data acquisition via the DETO Mastergateway. All relevant operating and condition data are bundled there, evaluated, and made available for diagnostics, analyses, and alerts. In addition, the system provides weekly reports on the condition of individual vehicles and the overall installation. Cloud-based, location-independent analysis is also available as an option.
Longer service life, less maintenance effort
From a mechanical perspective, the system is also designed for long-term cost efficiency. The EAGLE Energy Collector achieves a service life of up to 40,000 km. This reduces maintenance intervals, lowers material costs, and decreases plastic waste. Thanks to the unique Quick Release System, wear parts can be replaced with ease, significantly reducing maintenance time.
This combination is especially relevant in intralogistics, where availability and ease of maintenance have a direct impact on productivity. A long service life not only reduces service effort, but also improves total operating costs across the entire lifecycle of the installation.
Future-proof connectivity for modern installations
Another key component of the system is its communication via DECT NR+. In conveyor installations and sorting systems, timing determines efficiency and reliability. Even small delays or unpredictable communication can cause misrouting, congestion, or costly downtime.
The EAGLE Energy System uses DECT NR+, an ETSI-standardised wireless standard for local, reliable, and scalable wireless applications. Unlike Wi-Fi, DECT NR+ operates in the dedicated 1.9 GHz frequency band, making communication extremely robust against the interference commonly associated with conventional wireless technologies. The DETO Smart Antenna acts as the wireless base and enables predictable real-time communication with ultra-low latency. It ensures that data arrives exactly when it is needed, even in complex, dynamic systems.
To sum it up:
The 48V EAGLE Energy System is far more than just a new voltage variant. It is a consistent step toward intelligent energy transmission in intralogistics, offering clear advantages for operators, maintenance teams, and overall system performance. For anyone looking to operate sorting systems more reliably, with lower maintenance requirements and on a more data-driven basis, it provides a solution that combines advanced technology with practical industrial usability.
